The program will begin with a performance by UCLA Kyodo Taiko. The service will conclude with the tradidional interfaith service and tradidion Ondo dancing.
Manzanar At Dusk
In 1997 the Manzanar At Dusk program
was created as a way of engaging young people. Its purpose is to supplement
the daytime activities of the Manzanar Pilgrimage by providing a program for
sharing, educating and learning from intergenerational group discussion, oral
histories, forums and cultural performances.
The MAD program program is scheduled from 5:00pm
to 8:00pm at the Lone Pine High School gymnasium in Lone Pine across from McDonald's.
Both the daytime program and the Manzanar At
Dusk event are free and open to the public.
MAD is co-sponsored by the Lone Pine Unified School District, Lone Pine High School, the Cal Poly Pomona Nikkei Student Union, the UCLA Nikkei Student Union, and the UCSD Nikkei Student Union.
